Kasey Smith works for Katz Television Group as a Sales Manager in our Atlanta office.
How has working at Katz impacted your career?
It's been impacted immeasurably. To work for an organization that challenges me, is full of great people from A to Z, and is a fun place to come to makes me feel very lucky. I started with Katz 16 years ago and I tell people all the time that I'm still at my first job out of college, and I think that's a pretty cool thing.
What advice would you give women entering the workforce now?
You are your brand. Wherever life takes you, keep that in the forefront. Think of yourself as a brand manager. You want your name and effectiveness to be at the top of every (good/positive) list. No matter what it is you're doing, set out to build your brand to it's limitless potential.
Share a "fun fact" about yourself!
I'm a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan which is really difficult in die hard SEC Country. On most Saturdays in the Fall you can find me at home with my jersey on yelling at the TV.
Who or what is inspiring to you?
My team inspires me everyday. I have the opportunity to lead a group of ROCK STARS. They come to work ready to give me and Katz their all, which I am in awe of daily. These women embody the mantra "You're only as strong as your weakest link." We discuss living our values as an organization, they take it to heart and they make it easy for me to give 110% as well. Kim, Renee, Susan and Taylor collectively are one of the best parts of the job.
What attribute or skill has helped you the most in your career?
Communication. Moderating conversations and tailoring messages based on the recipient, is probably 95% of my day. I learned early in my career that you have two ears and one mouth for a reason. I've had to hone into how to listen constructively, take the information given and disseminate it in a clear and concise matter to all involved. Personally, I think it's the most important part of my role.
