How has working at Katz impacted your career?
I am so thankful to have found my "home" at Katz. I have had the rare opportunity to create work that is both invaluable to the company and honored by the design community and still maintain a healthy work/life balance. I have met wonderful people who have helped me grow personally and professionally. |
What advice would you give women entering the workforce now?
Get all the education and training you can get, be adaptable and teachable and always ready to learn something new. Everyone you meet has something to offer so be open to feedback, be curious and take the opportunity to learn from everyone and every experience that comes your way. |
Share a "fun fact" about yourself?
My husband is deaf and we use ASL at home with our two kids. I didn't know sign language well when we met but my background in dance memorizing movements helped me get up to speed in about three weeks. |
Who or what is inspiring to you?
I have a 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter who have a natural sense of creativity and joy that inspires me. One day while I was thinking through a difficult work problem I watched my kids delightedly scream into bowls and just enjoy the sound it made. Those kind of crazy things they do help me keep things in perspective and keep the creative ideas flowing. |
What attribute or skill has helped you the most in your career?
Being able to switch back and forth between my "mad man" self - being creative, thinking out of the box and generating ideas - and then back to my "critic" self - disconnecting emotionally from the work and being detailed, critical and open to feedback. |
