How has working at Katz impacted your career?
I grew up at Katz! I started as a sales assistant at Christal Radio, transferred to the TV Programming department a little over a year later and worked my way up to my current position. It's been a long road with the journey both fun and continually challenging. I have had the unique opportunity to work with a myriad of talented people over the years from varying backgrounds, not only at Katz, but at the networks and syndication companies. Since I love television, being able to watch TV as a very small part of my job, know what's going to air in advance and go to cocktail parties and lunches with celebrities has been the fun part. As Katz and the industry has progressed over the years, TV Programming grew into Content Strategy. I've stood the "test of time" at Katz (so far), continuing to evolve, be challenged and grow with it.
What advice would you give women entering the workforce now?
The time has never been better to be a woman in the workplace (and hopefully getting even better). Balance what you know with what you don't know. Speak up, ask lots of questions and listen to those that have gone before you. It's okay to know what you want and go for it and equally okay to not know what you want, to explore and discover along the way.
Share a "fun fact" about yourself!
I love travelling and seeing what the world looks like. I've been to more than half of the states in the U.S. and at least 10 countries abroad. The last exciting trip was through the Canadian Rockies and all major sites in western Canada.
Who or what is inspiring to you?
Aside from my family, a great song, show or movie, what inspires me to do better and reach farther is watching the next generation come into their own personally and professionally, listening to associates talk passionately about what they do and observing how some colleagues manage to get the job done amidst all the chaos.
What attribute or skill has helped you the most in your career?
Patience, humor and attention to the details!
